Musicology – Unreleased

The following are projects known for Stuart’s involvement, but were either unreleased, not credited, or just played live with.

>LEROI | 2005
LEROI was the creation of SZ and friends Jonah Johnson and Richard Woods. Big things were expected for the band and they were signed to Geffen records. Unfortunatley the team who signed them to the label left shortly afterwards, leaving the band in a dead deal with the label. The band departed ways shortly afterwards. You can read more about LEROI here.

JERKZ | 2002
In November 2002 Stu teamed up with Richard Woods in LA to form JERKZ. JERKZ is a kind of ‘production’ team spin off. Their projects already include working with Leon Ware (who has written for the likes of Marvin Gaye and Minnie Ripperton). To date we have not heard any JERKZ material.

Ms. Dynamite – A Little Deeper | 2002
At the beginning of her career, Stu was spotted playing bass for her. He appeared in the video for ‘Ms. Dy-na-mi-tee’ and on TOTP. Despite this, he is not noted in the CD sleeve and was not spotted playing for her again shortly afterwards.

AZUR – As You Are | 2001
AZUR (pronounced As You Are) was an R&B collboration between SZ and Don-E which also featured the likes of D’Angelo and Pino Palladino. They initially signed a $500,000 deal with Cheeba Sound (a subsidary of Virgin US) and although they completed an album, it failed to hit the shelves. Reasons for it’s failure are still unknown.

D’Angelo – Voodoo | 2000
This album took around 5 years to make and many of it’s tracks were completely shelved. Unfortunatley, including those that Stu worked on as well. The pair also worked together on the Azur project and he featured as lead vocalist on one of the tracks. This was originally scheduled to be on the Voodoo album, but was on the Azur album instead.

Stevie Wonder | 1999
Shortly after leaving Jamiroquai, Stu got to hook up with Stevie Wonder in his studio. This arose from a call from friend Omar. Stu jumped at the opportunity to record with such a legend. Downside: we still haven’t heard the track.
